Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a third set.

The opponent defended four initial break points in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
